Since I didn’t send one of these out last week, I have two Five Fits Withs to update you with. I was celebrating my birthday in Brooklyn, and while I wanted to send one of these, Substack’s app is not good for creation on mobile. Last Friday’s subject was Jeremiah Brent, the famed interior designer who is also slated to replace Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk as the show’s design expert from here on out. Jeremiah was a pleasure to talk, and I really liked his outfits. I was happy to feature him as the series’ first interior designer.
This week’s was Somsack Sickounmuong, creative director of Alex Mill. I love Alex Mill, and actually started working with them not long after purchasing my first jacket from their site. I don’t know Somsack super well, but he has excellent style and taste.
Mediterranean chuck roast - Most of my explore feed is recipes, so I’ve learned to parse through the noise for those that are uncomplicated, efficient, healthy, and most importantly, tasty. This one is a perfect Sunday night recipe that’ll provide you with leftovers for a few more meals throughout the week. The only thing I’d advise you changing is pouring enough beef stock to cover the meat. Ours was 2.5lbs as called for but we needed about 3.5 hours and it much longer to shred than the recipe said.
2. The Promised Land - Man, this movie is near to perfect for me. It’s everything you want in a drama. Mads Mikkelsen is absolutely brilliant, as is the rest of the cast. It’s funny when it needs to be. Great, measured depictions of violence, which might sound weird, but I’m not one for constant gore so I appreciated how director Nikolaj Arcel handled those moments in this epic. Rent it ASAP.
3. Rick Owens on i-D Asks - The man is obviously an artistic genius, and one of fashion’s greatest minds, so it’s really fun to hear him answer random questions that run the full gamut of Rick.
Happy belated birthday, Chris! Hope you had a great one with the fam. 🎉
