This week’s Five Fits subject was rapper, singer and song-writer SAINt JHN, who just released a new album Friday. I haven’t finished it yet, but I liked the first quarter of it that I did hear. This week I also photographed the apartment of a close friend. His is one of my favorites in the city. Looking forward to transcribing our conversation and posting it all here under the paid tier of this Substack either this month or next. I’m still working out which of two features will go live in March. And in case you missed it, I posted a bunch of gear from closet for sale here.
Savory Oats for breakfast - I’m not sure this is revolutionary, but it’s become my favorite breakfast. Just simmer oats according to their directions and top them with lightly fried, runny eggs seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Finish it with scallions, chopped spinach and herbs, sriracha and some avocado. These are my go-to oats because I’m trying not to eat metal and glyphosate first thing in the morning; or ever. I get them at Costco in a giant bag, but they have them at Whole Foods, too.
Eddie Chacon’s Pleasure, Joy and Happiness - I photographed and interviewed Eddie this week for a future Five Fits. I wasn’t familiar with him prior to him being pitched to me. His debut album linked above is super tight, as is his second, and he just released a solid new one at the beginning of this year—but those first two are produced by his closest collaborator, John Carroll Kirby, and in my opinion, led to his best work.
